Training and Development for Home Care Professionals
Caregiving is in many people’s nature, and Best of Care looks for that special nurturing quality in our employees. Best of Care hires homemaker-companions and home health aides who are committed to providing dependable support to our elderly and disabled clients.
Our professional caregivers are sensitive to each client’s state of health and mind. They adapt the services they provide based on each client’s care plan. They enthusiastically support each client’s activities of daily living while providing life-affirming companionship.
Best of Care has a strong working relationship with Quincy College, with whom we’ve developed the region’s first non-credit college based home health aide training program. We also work with the Red Cross and Catholic Charities, which offer 75-hour home health aide training sessions in Brockton, Quincy and South Boston, Mass. Upon graduation from a home health aide training program, graduates have the credentials to work as a home health aide. Our new hires pass a detailed exam, then participate in orientation and in-house training before they begin working with clients.
Our professional caregivers never stop learning, building upon on their skills with formal in-class and in-the-field training and certification. The home health aides we hire continue their education and training through Best of Care’s internal programs. Besides regular in-service sessions that keep their knowledge and skills up-to-date, we are establishing a home health aide training program that includes a conversion program for active certified nursing assistants who want to become home health aides.
Best of Care offers additional opportunities for professional development such as:
- Training to handle various conditions such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, depression and other mental and behavioral health conditions
- Supportive home care aide training
- Hospice education and employee orientations
