Family-owned-and-operated home care agency founded by Stephen Smith celebrates 38 years of service to families in Greater Boston and Eastern Massachusetts
Quincy, Mass., May 7, 2019 – Twelve years ago, Kevin Smith joined his father Stephen to manage and grow Best of Care, Inc., the Quincy, Mass.-based home care business Stephen founded in 1981. Today, Stephen Smith named Kevin Smith as CEO of Best of Care, Inc. Stephen Smith will continue providing support to Best of Care in the role of founder and owner.
“Since joining Best of Care in 2007, Kevin has learned every nuance of the home care industry and every aspect of our business,” said Stephen Smith. “He’s worked closely with me to plan and manage our growth. He’s collaborated with new referral and training partners. He’s implemented innovative ideas and practices. As a result, Best of Care has experienced significant growth to meet the growing needs of the region’s aging population. Our home care aides serve over 1200 older adults and individuals with disabilities in more than 100 cities and towns throughout Greater Boston, the South Shore, the South Coast, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket,” he added.
“The home care industry – and the regulatory environment in which we operate – has changed dramatically in the twelve years since I joined Best of Care,” said Kevin Smith, who is also current president and past technology officer at the Home Care Aide Council of Massachusetts. “I’m proud of what our agency has accomplished. I’m honored to serve our clients’ needs as CEO. I will continue to be a strong advocate for my organization and our home care agency peers, both in Massachusetts and nationally.”
“I congratulate Kevin Smith on his promotion to CEO of Best of Care, Inc. Kevin always strives to do what is best for his agency, and as president of the Home Care Aide Council, for the home care agency industry as a whole,” said Home Care Aide Council Executive Director Julie Watt Faqir, J.D.
Before being named CEO of Best of Care, Kevin Smith served as vice president, then president and COO of the agency. Between 2014 and 2016, Best of Care opened offices in Quincy Center, Milton, Cape Cod, New Bedford, Taunton and Nantucket.
In 2017, Best of Care launched a home health aide training program in collaboration with Quincy College and the Quincy Housing Authority. Expanding on the services it provides to seniors who live in community settings, in 2018 Best of Care became a preferred in-home care provider to residents of Milton, Mass.-based independent living community Fuller Village.
